In this new realm of entrepreneurship that functions almost exclusively on instant gratification, in turn promoting the race to become millionaires by the age of 20, it’s much too easy to forget about our health and wellness.
Just your average girl raised from a small immigrant family, but with big dreams to one day become an accomplished media mogul.
Take myself as an example, Tahmina Qurashi – just your average girl raised from a small immigrant family, but with big dreams to one day become an accomplished media mogul. I have put blood, sweat and, tears (literally tears – lots of them) into growing my network and net worth, and designing a digital branding agency by the name of The Brand Agents.
I started my road to success about 6 years ago and within that time I’ve accumulated hundreds of clients, have been featured on several online platforms, been booked for multiple speaking engagements, worked on top performing global campaigns and have been noticed by large scale investors. I feel like I’ve been hitting my stride.
So, why was I 15 pounds heavier than what I usually am? Why had my roots grown out to a point where it had become an unintentional ombré hairstyle? Most importantly, what happened to my smooth and youthful skin?! I was living in this paradox of being in my prime career-wise and at my worst health-wise. In the midst of trying to sustain a career, I had lost part of myself and knew I had to turn some things around. I signed up to my local gym, booked a hair appointment, bought some candles and essential oils, then grabbed my favourite book, lathered myself with Rose’s organic oil and instantly felt like me again!
The balance of work and wellness is a tricky, but nonetheless important one. With the world pressuring you to achieve great things in a small amount of time, you have to feel great about yourself first if you want to succeed. I had to consciously prioritize ‘me’ time, which has not only become a part of my everyday ritual but also my favourite part of the day. It truly allows me to recharge and attack my goals and work with so much more energy and focus!
With the right balance, work and wellness complement each other nicely – but that balance takes work itself to ensure. So, before you decide to take on the world, be sure to take care of yourself first.
